Enhancing water management (MAR, IWRM), promoting drought resilience agricultural productivity and increasing adaptation capability against climate change in the NW part of Bangladesh (Barind Tract). Our mission for sustainable development.

The subject of our project was presented to the very poor and poor family members to form CCAG team in Devigram of Gobratala Union under Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila. Most of the people of this village belong to the Santal or tribal community. About 64 families are living there. A tribal family was having a wedding ceremony. This village is located in the high land of Barendra region and the people of the village suffer a lot for water. They cannot farm properly for water. They are very happy to hear that our project has taken initiative to meet the water demand and are eager to provide all necessary cooperation. Also visit some other ponds in this village. Re-excavation of which will meet the water needs of the villagers.

ECCCP-Drought Project Monthly Coordination Meeting-

The monthly coordination meeting of the ECCCP-Drought project took place on July 2, 2024, at the Naqeeb Auditorium, Proyas Manobik Unnayan Society. The meeting was chaired by Allaya Ferdous, the Director of Proyas. Joint Director Md. Naser Uddin, Junior Assistant Director Md. Feroz Alam, and Project Focal Person Mr. Abdus Salam were also present. Project Coordinator Mr. Bakul Kumar Ghose set the agenda for the meeting and facilitated the discussion with the chairman’s approval.

The sole official Khaspukur of Charanupnogor Union, which has an area of roughly two acres and a canal with a length of roughly two kilometers, was inspected in the presence of the Honorable Chairman. The Honorable Chairman promised full cooperation. Many acres of land will be put under cultivation as a result of the aforementioned canal and pond’s re-excavation, and hundreds of people’s daily water demands will also be satisfied.

20 women members of Santal tribal community of Ward No. 8 and 9 of Nadhai Krishnapur village of Gobratla Union under Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila participated in today’s PRA session. They are informed about our project activities. They present us with the problem of drinking water. They also say that they can live without eating rice for a day but it is impossible to go without water. The poor people of the village are suffering a lot in this intense heat. We can get an overview of the social and water resources by drawing on the brown paper of the PRA session. By this we initially select a CCAG group. who are very poor and engaged in agricultural work.
